September is Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month

This month, you can take action to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Every September, the network of 200 Feeding America food banks and our partners in food security work to raise awareness of the dire issue that our country is facing – more Americans than ever are facing an empty plate, and don’t know where their next meal will come from.

In WNC, we have seen food insecurity grow dramatically in the wake of the pandemic and economic crisis. MANNA and our network of partners across 16 counties are serving almost 100,000 people each month since March.

This September, we want you to join us in the fight against hunger and food insecurity by printing our Hunger Action Month calendar and challenging yourself to participate in as many actions as possible!

Since we know many of you are avoiding public places, we made sure that each activity could be completed from the comfort of your own home. By following along with the calendar, you will be encouraged each day to take action. Whether that action is making sure you and your friends are registered to vote, following specific social media accounts, or engaging others in conversations about food insecurity, you will be able fight hunger from your home!

Leading up to Hunger Action Month, all of us at MANNA, along with our volunteers and partners, have been doing all that we can to fight hunger. Learn more about the work we have done since the beginning of the pandemic.
