What Is the Student Food Drive?

Our Student Food Drive is an annual competition among schools across Western North Carolina to support MANNA FoodBank and our 200+ dedicated partner agencies. For more than a decade, students in our region have joined together each March to collect food donations, host fundraisers, and educate their communities about the ever-growing problem of food insecurity in WNC. We’re proud to work with each school, faculty member, and student toward MANNA’s mission: involving, educating, and uniting people in the work of ending hunger in our region. The Student Food Drive is accessible to everyone โ€“ even if you’re not a student! You can support your school by making a donation to their food drive efforts.

Student Food Drive 2023

Did you know that in Western North Carolina, 1 in 4 children experience food insecurity? MANNA and our network of partner agencies make a difference in the lives of thousands of children and families every single day. Invite your schools to join us in the fight against hunger!

The 14th Annual Student Food Drive runs the month of March each year. In March 2023, participating schools raised 16,156 lbs. of food (enough to provide for 41,504 meals!) and $7,010! Schools can hold their food drive for any duration during March.

This community-wide food drive is one of the most important and exciting events that we coordinate each year. The Student Food Drive also provides an opportunity for WNC schools to compete to see who can collect the most food. It’s a great way for students to be involved, educated, and united in their community.
