A Soup-er Way to Make a Difference!

A Soup-er Way to Make a Difference!

Residents at The Beaverdam Run held their 2nd Annual SOUPer on Sunday, February 15. Thirty eight residents spent a very chilly February afternoon warming up with the delicious soups made by twelve creative Beaverdam Run chefs!

Guests voted on their favorite soups- not with ballots or their feet, but with quarters. Unlike most elections, voters were encouraged to vote as much as possible because all the money went to MANNA FoodBank. Cash and check donations for MANNA were encouraged as well, and the fundraising total came to $245! That’s enough to provide food for 735 meals throughout WNC.

In addition to the cash donation, the group also donated several dozen cans of soup. Organizer Karen Milnes encourages anyone who has considered holding a fundraiser for MANNA to jump in and do it. “It was meaningful in addition to being fun,” she said. “Using quarters allowed people to be generous, especially since all the money is going to MANNA. Because of the need in our area, every donation counts- no amount is too small.”
