MANNA FoodBank distributes enough food through our partner agencies to provide 45,000 meals every day. This year-round effort takes tremendous community support to achieve. Volunteers are at the very heart of our operations, helping us stretch each dollar as far as it can go. Thanks to our volunteers, every $1 donated helps to provide the food for 4 meals.
Orientation is not required to volunteer at this time. We will resume in-person orientations once we are able to do so safely.

Volunteering at MANNA: What to Expect
As an individual volunteer you work alongside other MANNA volunteers towards the common goal of supporting our neighbors in need and ending hunger in Western North Carolina. MANNA could not serve the more than 100,000 people affected by food insecurity in our WNC communities without our incredible volunteers.
Our biggest need is in our Volunteer Center, where volunteers help with our daily projects.
Shifts are Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-12:00PM and 1:00-3:00PM. We hold additional shifts on Tuesday evenings, 4:15-5:30PM and 6:00-8:00PM.
- Repackaging healthy food purchased in bulk, such as pasta, rice, and beans,
- Creating emergency food boxes for distribution to those who need it most,
- Culling and repackaging fresh produce,
- Packaging MANNA Packs and Summer Packs for Kids, and
- Sorting donated product for distribution to our partner agencies.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
We always encourage volunteers to start by trying a shift in our Volunteer Center to learn more about our daily operations. We have volunteer roles in nearly every department at MANNA. If you are interested in learning about other volunteer roles and opportunities, you can see a list of specialized volunteer roles here.
