DONORS - Food, Financial and Friends (Volunteers)

WHO ARE THE FOOD DONORS?
They are national food manufacturers who donate through America's Second Harvest, the food bank network. They include MANNA-Ingles Grocery Reclaim Center, local food growers/manufacturers, supermarkets, USDA commodities, NC State-funded food purchases, food drives, individuals, organizations and congregations - plus our sister America's Second Harvest food banks. Corporate food givers generally choose food banks as an alternative to destroying food products, so MANNA and its partners recycle products and keep them from landfills, too. Information is available about how to donate, and what benefits are available to food companies who choose foodbanking.

WHO ARE THE FINANCIAL DONORS?
They are individuals, corporations, civic organizations and religious congregations. The are foundations, such as Janirve and Community Foundations of WNC and Madison County, as well as United Ways of Asheville-Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, Madison, and Transylvania Counties. They include MAZON: The Jewish Response to Hunger and corporate givers, such as ConAgra and Philip Morris companies. They are groups and people from all walks of life - as diverse as the 17-county region we serve.

ADVANTAGES TO DONATING
There is a tax advantage. Since June 2002, through the CARE Act, that tax incentive has been extended to farmers, restaurants, and small businesses, as well as food corporations.

MANNA Food Forever Fund -- please remember MANNA FoodBank in your will.
Help insure that as long as there is hunger in the mountains, MANNA FoodBank will provide services to those in need. As you have lived a life of concern, take care to have your finest objectives continue forever. In addition to your financial advisors, you may want to discuss an estate plan with those at the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. MANNA FoodBank's endowment fund, which was established by a longtime friend of MANNA's, Earl Mitchelle, for whom the fund is named.

We welcome those who have made a decision to remember MANNA in their estate plans to let us know about it, so that we may recognize your thoughtfulness. (Of course, the plan itself is your confidential concern.) When you choose to leave a legacy, you continue to improve the quality of life for everyone in the community.

As one of our board members advised, "I believe that those who make gifts to MANNA FoodBank, year in and year out, give from their hearts. Those who make plans to remember MANNA in their wills - ahh, they give from their souls. both are marvelously valuable."

Call Kitty Schaller (x226) or Don Harris (x223) for information.

Gifts to MANNA FoodBank are always welcome.

The Pampered Chef
As a business leader in a food related industry, The Pampered Chef® sought to use its position to make others aware of the need to help the hungry in America. So, in 1991, they created the Round Up from the Heart program, a company wide commitment, which is a team effort between The Pampered Chef's Kitchen Consultants, customers, corporate employees, and America's Second Harvest, the largest hunger relief organization in the United States.
